Norah Mulberry raised this fantastic amount by completing the Campoverde Half Marathon. She was joined by her sister, neice and two friends and walked the route in three and a half hours to raise money for PCN as our nurses helped her husband Roger in his last days.
With the Valenciana region which we are a part of in serious financial difficulties possible the worst in Spain due to their reckless spending the cut backs are even more stringent than in other places.
With the farmacia’s having to take drastic steps of working to rule, people were becoming very anxious with the fear of not being able to obtain their medicines/drugs.
The national health service , once a very impressive is in such serious debt and again cut backs have been made.
I fear worse still yet to come. For many years a free health card (SIP) was freely given away to anyone purchasing a property in the region, combined with the abuse of the EH1C card screams could be heard when the newly elected government discovered that this once very proud organisation found itself on it knees financialy.
SIP cards are being cancelled every day which means further costs for ex-pats to find as ther is no alternative but to pay for private health care.
This very sad state of affairs has coincided with the charity which is built on a very strong foundation extending the services they offier via the introduction Of PCNSL.
PCNSL is able to offer a full general nursing, carer or home help service to all in our community.
A diabetic clinic with nurses specifically trained in treating this condition is also now available via PCNSL.
