Jennifer opened the first charity shop in Quesada. Having had no experience of organising a charity shop she was delighted to be sitting watching tv one evening and Mary Porter came on with a project of re forming and updating a number of charity shops which were struggling.
Obviously Mary ruffled a number of feathers when she pointed out why they were not achieving their full potential. Every one of mary’s ideas and suggestgions, Jennifer implemented or adapted for the needs of the Spainsh market. As Jennifer is a very successful business woman her expertise on setting up a business in Spain was invaluable.
There are now three charity shops which all staffed by volunteers. With the amount of volunteers required, the managing of them is very important. The charity is fortunate to have found a person with a vast amount of experience in retail to oversee these vital outlets.
Chris Rodley has a very busy schedule every day collecting, delivering , organising rotas and being there for the volunteers. The charity shops have maintained Jennifers high standards and improved on them over the years becoming more like a boutique.
Many people comment when they enter the shops that the presentation of merchandise and high standards of housekeeping makes for a very pleasant shopping experience.
Customers return again and again and thankfully your donations of clothes and bricabrac etc continues to be given. Income generated helps support the cost of our nursing care. However with an ever increasing need and an aging population we are always thinking of ways to fund the charity and we do need constant funds.
